pecan

Join us for a Lunch and Learn program all about Pecans September 13 from 12:00-1:00 at the Clayton City Hall, 45 Reed Avenue. Pecans are a popular and sometimes challenging crop to grow in south Alabama. Fortunately, with a bit of knowledge and effort, it’s possible to produce good quality nuts. The “Home Grown Pecan Meeting” will help homeowners as well as small producers learn how to properly manage their orchards to promote greater yields. Bring your lunch and come to hear Neil Kelly, Commercial Horticulture REA, and David Koon, Home Grounds REA, discuss the topics of variety selection, planting and care, pecan pest management, grading, and much more. Call the Barbour County Extension Office to register 334-775-3284.
