I just wanted to send a reminder that the Animal Science and Forage Team will be hosting the Alabama Forage Conference this year on Nov. 28 and 29 in Headland and Eufaula, AL, respectively.
A pre-conference tour will be hosted at the Wiregrass Research and Extension Center on Nov. 28 beginning at 1:30 pm. The tour will highlight ongoing research and demonstration projects related to alfalfa in bermudagrass, limit-grazing cow-calf pairs on cool-season annual mixtures, a forage garden, estrus synchronization and artificial insemination practices for beef heifers, the sod-based rotation, and results of a mini-irrigation system demonstration trial.
A one-day educational conference will be held at Lakepoint State Park on Nov. 29. The focus of the meeting is to discuss management practices for improving on-farm forage production and persistence. Our goal is to highlight soil-plant practices that can improve the resiliency of Alabama grazing systems. Dr. Matt Poore from NC State University will be our keynote speaker. He is the coordinator the Amazing Grazing program and has lots of practical, real-world knowledge that will resonate well with producers.
The full conference registration is $65, or $50 for the one-day conference at Lakepoint State Park only. Full schedule and registration information can be found at www.bamabeef.org/forage.
A press release on the conference can be found at: http://news.aces.edu/blog/2017/08/02/18774/
Please share these resources with any clientele in your counties that would be interested in attending. The above press release can be shared via social media or through local newspapers.
If you have any questions regarding the conference, please contact Dr. Leanne Dillard (email@example.com) or myself regarding this opportunity.
