2017 Herdbuilder Sale Summary

The 19th Annual Herdbuilder Replacement Female Sale was held August 25th at Alabama Livestock Auction in Uniontown Alabama.  The annual sale is hosted by Alabama Cooperative Extension and Alabama Beef Cattle Improvement Association.  2017 had the largest consignments and likely the highest quality offering of bred heifers in the 19 year history.  25 Consignors marketed a total of 375 head of bred heifers and 12 open heifers.  Bred heifers averaged $1,840 and open heifers averaged $1,109.  The sale gross was $702,300.   High selling bred heifer lots were ABBA Golden Certified F1 Hereford-Brahman consigned by Carey Cauthen of Montgomery Alabama and sold to Shan & Courtney Noman also of Montgomery Alabama for $2,700 and Sim-Angus/Brangus Cross consigned by Aaron Morrow of Eutaw Alabama sold to Robert Field of Shuqualak Mississippi for $2,600. High selling open heifers were consigned by Rafter J Ranch-Darren and Tina Hammonds of Hayneville Alabama and sold to Sealy and Sons of Uniontown Alabama for $1,200.  There were a total of 31 buyers. Volume buyers were John Session of Evergreen Alabama; 110 head, Jon Kilgore of Taylorsville Mississippi; 30 head and Brentwood Farms of Brent Alabama; 21 head.  The management and consignors would like to thank all those in attendance especially the buyers that made the sale a success and invite everyone to be with us for our 20th annual sale on August 31st 2018.

 2017 Replacement Female Sale

The 19th Annual Herdbuilder Replacement Female Sale will be held August 25th at Alabama Livestock Auction in Uniontown Alabama.  The annual sale is hosted by Alabama Cooperative Extension and Alabama Beef Cattle Improvement Association and will begin at 11:00 am CDT.  The 2017 sale will host one of the largest consignments and likely the highest quality offerings in the 19-year history.  Consignors will be offering approximately 400 head of high quality bred heifers and a select group of open heifers ready for fall season breeding.  Consignments will include Angus, Sim-Angus, Brangus and F1 Brahman Crosses.  Heifers will be sorted into uniform lots based on quality, size, expected calving dates and offered in lots of 3 to 5 head. Through the 19-year history, this sale has become known as one of the top replacement female sales in the southeast.

Alabama Master Naturalist Program

The Alabama Master Naturalist program is a new statewide program whose goal is to help promote awareness, understanding, and respect of Alabama’s natural world among Alabama’s citizens and visitors. In addition, the AMN program will also develop a statewide corps of well-informed volunteers providing education, outreach, and service dedicated to the beneficial management of natural resources and natural areas within their communities.
