Annual 4-H Covington County Round-Up

4-H youth cooking

On April 9th, Covington county 4-H held its annual County Round Up. This is an opportunity for youth to compete in events and contests with other youth from across the county. Members competed in events such as Chef 4-H, Public Speaking, eXtreme birdhouse, Blocks Rock, What Wood You Build, and $15 challenge. The winners of each contest will advance to the Southeast Alabama Regional Round-Up, at Troy University. There students will get to stay in the college dorms and compete against other youth from throughout the state of Alabama. This year, we have 17 hardworking youth representing Covington county.

Competitive Events are an important part of Alabama 4-H. They give youth the opportunity to develop skills and confidence in a safe environment. Youth will get a sense of accomplishment, and many find something that sparks an interest in a certain career or hobby. We are so proud of what these youth have done in 4-H this year. Take a look at some of the projects they have worked so hard on!
