Master Gardener Program

Would you like to become a Master Gardener? Do you have a love for gardening or a desire to learn how? The Dallas County Extension office is now accepting applications for its 2018 Fall Master Gardener’s classes. These classes will be held weekly on Thursday’s beginning September 6-November 15 (10 weekly sessions) 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the Central Alabama Farmers Co-op, Hwy 80 W in Selma, Alabama.

The cost is $150.00 per person which covers cost of background check and all materials. All participants much complete and pass a background screening before being admitted to the class. Farmers Market Season

The Dallas County Farmers’ Market will officially open for its 2018 session beginning on Saturday, June 2. The market will be open every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday beginning June 2 – November 3 from 6:00 a.m. until 2:00 pm or until the last vendor sells out. The market is located at Bloch Park on Dallas Avenue in Selma. For more information or if you have questions, please contact the market manager at 334-366-4575.

Farming 101: Introduction to Beekeeping

The Alabama Cooperative Extension invites you to an introduction to beekeeping. The goal of this workshop is to provide basic beekeeping information and practices along with the opportunity to connect with other want-to-be beekeepers, beekeeping for a profit, and experienced apiarists. Home Grounds


Agents from the Dallas County Extension office conduct Master Gardener Classes and training meetings; assist clients with gardening site selection and pest management; as well as conduct classes on various gardening topics such as plant propagation.
