Volunteers are needed for two upcoming 4-H events. If you would like to be a judge at either of the two, please contact the Extension Office at 256.547.7936:
Baked Foods: Volunteer to taste test! Saturday, January 27th from 8:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. in Rainbow City.
County Round Up: Volunteer to judge anything from photography to woodworking to crafts to public speaking! Friday, April 27th during the day at Gadsden State Community College.
The 4-H Chick Chain project is one that teaches responsibility, money management skills and animal husbandry. Youth ages 9-18, register by paying a $50 fee and receive 18 one day old chicks to raise over the summer months. In order to complete the project, youth will bring their three best pullets of one breed to the county show in the fall. Those three will then be auctioned off in a public auction to pay for the remainder of the flock. Youth receive prize money and proceeds from the auction and have the reminder of their flock at home to use for egg production. Registration forms can be requested from the Extension Office at 256.547.7936. Registration is open through the first week of March.
