Grass Masters

Horses on the Pasture

Grass Masters is a comprehensive four-day study (two hours) on basic topics from Soil Fertility and Weed Control to Plant Physiology and Grazing Systems. The cost of the program will be $40.00 and this will provide the power point presentations in a manual, light refreshments and a Grass Masters cap. This program is designed for beginners and long time forage growers who want to understand more about the management of forages for profitability.

Reading Readiness


Parents at Greene County Head Start participate in a Reading Readiness activity presented by Leigh Akins, Regional Extension Agent in Family and Child Development.

Parents learned the importance of monitoring their children’s TV time, reading books with/to their children, and utilizing educational games to enhance reading skills.

Agriculture Tools for Greene County Farmers

Alabama Cooperative Extension offers row crop farmers information on crop production and risk management through educational programs conducted in the Black Belt region.

A pesticide training will be offered this year to assist farmers, ranchers, catfish producers and forest land owners with obtaining a private applicator permit.

Farm visits are made to assist producers with questions concerning production practices and pest management.

On-farm tests are conducted in the Black Belt region to give producers another tool in their management decisions.
