Aim High with our S.A.F.E. Clubs

The 4-H S.A.F.E. (Shooting Awareness Fun Education) programs build great character, self-confidence, and self-discipline while developing marksmanship skills. Lauderdale County 4-H offers four shooting sports clubs: air rifle/BB, archery, rifle, and shotgun.

2017 – 2018 Club dates and important information: 

Archery: Saturdays, 10a – June 17, July 22, September 16, October 21, November 4, December 16. Learn and practice archery safety and skills using a compound or recurve bow. Bring your own bow, at least 6 arrows, and an arm guard; wear closed-toe shoes. A finger glove is required for archers that do not shoot with a release. New to the sport or don’t have your own equipment? 4-H has some Genesis bows, arrows, finger guards, and arm guards that you can use (provided through a grant from NW AL RC&D). Meets at the Muscle Shoals Skeet & Trap Club off of CR 47 between St. Florian and Greenhill (directions below). State Competition: April 28, Alabama 4-H Center

Shotgun: Saturdays, 9a – June 17, July 22, September 16, October 21, November 4, December 16. Learn firearm safety & responsibility with the shotgun sports of skeet & trap. Participants need to bring a .12 or .20 gauge shotgun, target load ammo (at least 2 boxes of 25), safety glasses or sunglasses and hearing protection. The cost is $4 per round and is paid directly to the shooting club. Please bring cash and correct change! Meets at the Muscle Shoals Skeet & Trap Club off of CR 47 between St. Florian and Greenhill (directions below).  State Competition: April 13-14, Childersburg

Air Rifle and BB Club: Mondays, 5p – 7p, October 16, November 13, January 22, February 19, March 12. Learn firearm safety while enjoying outdoor target practice. We have all of the equipment that you need. You may bring your own air rifle or BB gun; it MUST be unloaded with the safety “on” when you carry it in the building. The club meets in the barn at the Lauderdale County 4-H office. State Competition: March 18, Anniston

Directions:

Muscle Shoals Skeet & Trap Club: (from Florence) take County Road 47 through St. Florian and over Happy Hollow Bridge. Turn left onto County Rd. 353 at Greenhill Steel. At the end of the road, turn left. The club is the first driveway on the left after the curve.
