I am afraid I’ll need something right after I get rid of it.
Put the item(s) in a box. Seal the box with tape, and write a date on it for six months from now. Put the box someplace out of the way. When you come across the box and the date has passed, toss it out without opening it.

Improve Your Endurance
Endurance, or aerobic, activities increase your breathing and heart rate. These activities help keep you healthy, improve your fitness, and help you do the tasks you need to do every day. Endurance exercises improve the health of your heart, lungs, and circulatory system. They also delay or prevent many diseases that are common in older adults such as diabetes, heart disease, and osteoporosis.
Be sure to try all four types of exercise

Freezing Summer Squash
Blanching – Summer squash, like most vegetables, must be blanched before they can be frozen.
Wash and cut summer squash into 1/2-inch slices, or grate flesh for baking use. Add no more than 1 pound of squash (4-6 cups) to the boiling water. If the water does not return to a boil within 30 seconds to 1 minute, then you added too much. Once the water returns to a boil, blanch squash for 3 minutes (4 minutes at elevations greater than 3,500 feet). After 3 minutes, remove the squash, using the basket or colander, and plunge pieces into cold water or ice water. Thequicker the slices or grated squash cool, the more crispness they will retain.
Freezing – Fill pint- or quart-size freezer bags close to full. Squeeze out the excess air. Or, tightly pack rigid freezer containers leaving a ½ – 1 inch headspace. For all containers: seal, label and freeze. To freeze squash slices so that they do not stick together, place them in a single layer on a cookie sheet. Cover with plastic wrap and freeze solid. Once the slices are solid, place them into freezer bags or rigid freezer containers. Via National Center for Home Food Preservation
Head over to the Farmers Market
Lawrence County is lucky enough to have a couple of Farmers Markets – in Moulton and Town Creek.
If you have Senior Farmers Market vouchers you have until mid-November to use them. But don’t wait. Lots on the Market in August & September – from tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers – and more!
The ACES office is coordinating a Power of Produce (POP) program, and if you are lucky we will be at the Market with POP Market Bucks for youth 1 to 15 to spend at the Market when they try a new food. Local sponsors made program possible.
Plants should not be watered on a schedule, but watered when they need it. Factors that influence plant watering include differences in potting media, humidity, and temperature
