During the Tractor Supply Paper Clover Campaign, the Marengo Shooting Stars BB Team raised money for their upcoming trip to Rogers, Arkansas for the Daisy National BB Championships in July. The 4-H Rifle team qualified for this honor when they came in 3rd place at the Dixie Challenge and the 4-H State Championships this year. These youth and coaches have worked extremely hard for the opportunity to represent 4-H and Marengo county in this final match of the season. Any youth ages 9-18 can join the Marengo Shooting Sports program. The new 4-H Shooting Sports year begins in September. For more information, contact the Marengo County Extension Office or Beth Yates.
Classroom in the Forest is a wonderful program that goes into the school to teach 5th graders about the forest. Not only do we take forest education to the school, but the youth get to go on a field trip to the forest. Forestry volunteers actually show them what they learned about at school.

The Alabama Master Naturalist program is a new statewide program whose goal is to help promote awareness, understanding, and respect of Alabama’s natural world among Alabama’s citizens and visitors. In addition, the AMN program will also develop a statewide corps of well-informed volunteers providing education, outreach, and service dedicated to the beneficial management of natural resources and natural areas within their communities.
