Several programs are offered through the Pickens County Extension office in order to help our farmers have all the information they need to succeed.
A pesticide training will be offered this year on August 19th to assist farmers, ranchers, catfish producers and forest land owners with obtaining a private applicator permit. Stay on the lookout for more information!
Farmers also are able to stop by the Pickens County Extension office and obtain a grower’s permit to sell their produce at local farmers markets. In addition to that, farmers can also come to the office to receive Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) voucher training in order to be able to accept SFMNP vouchers at certified farmers markets.
There will be CAFO and PQA Plus trainings offered this year to assist producers with their certifications.
Farm visits are made to assist producers with questions concerning production practices and pest management.
