The 50th Annual Forestry Field Day event was held on April 21, 2016. Forestry Field Day is a local event organized by the Forestry Committee of the Aliceville Area Chamber of Commerce. The program allows local Future Farmers of America (FFA) clubs to compete in both individual and group events in order to see which school will receive the J.E. Sanders trophy for the year. Events include log rolling, pulp wood throw, tree identification, and cruising timber to name a few. This year Dean Lewis, Committee Chairman, was honored with a plaque for his many years of service. The guest speaker this year was Greg Pate, Alabama State Forester.
The Pickens County Extension Office plays a vital role in helping to organize and make arrangements for the event and the Forestry Committee.
