Experts recommend at least five servings of fruit and vegetables per day for good health. Why not buy the vegetables that you need from local growers and support our farmers? The Haleyville Farmers Market gives us a good place to do just that.
The Haleyville Farmers Market opens on the first Tuesday in June. The market is located at the Rocky Ravine Park and will be open on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, during the summer. The Rocky Ravine Park is an excellent place for the market. This location provides a safe, comfortable environment including shade, restrooms, and fresh water.
The City of Haleyville sponsors this market, providing the property, the shelter, and maintenance of the facility. Without the city’s support the market would not be possible. Farmers that sell at this market must have a growers permit from the County Extension Office where they reside. This permit is available free of charge and is valid for one year.
Most farmers that sell at the Haleyville Market live in Winston or Marion Counties. Some of the farmers also accept the Seniors Farmers Market Nutrition Program vouchers that are available to some seniors.
Also, “like” the Haleyville Farmers Market on Facebook, that way you can get updates on what’s available and events that are happening at the market.
